Look closely along rue des Gras and you’ll spot 13th‑century re-used ashlar, a quiet palimpsest. Between UNESCO-listed Notre-Dame-du-Port and the medieval borough of Montferrand, the city sits around 365–400 m, under the Chaîne des Puys, recognized as a World Heritage site in 2018.
