The Louisiana opened in 1958 at Humlebæk, 22 miles north of Copenhagen, set on a lawn sloping to the Øresund with Sweden on the horizon. Low pavilions by Jørgen Bo and Vilhelm Wohlert link glassy galleries where Giacometti, Calder and Kusama read differently as the light shifts across the strait. The drive up Strandvejen rolls past modernist villas and pocket beaches at Charlottenlund, Skovshoved and Hellerup, with Kronborg’s silhouette often teasing the skyline.
Your driver collects you at the hotel, then hugs the coast in a Mercedes for a flexible 4–5 hours. We can stop for coffee at Rungsted Harbour, detour 800 m inland to Karen Blixen’s home, pause for photos in Vedbæk, or swing by the beach cabins near Espergærde. You explore while we handle the wheel; tickets pre-booked on request, timing entirely yours, and luggage or museum-shop finds stowed safely on the way back to Copenhagen.

Aim for opening time (10:00 on weekdays) to catch low Øresund light and a quiet park; in summer, book a timed entry to skip the late-morning queue.
