West Cork and Mizen Head

Rising 103 meters above the Atlantic, the Mizen Head suspension bridge has linked the cliffs to the signal station since 2011, where swells driven past Fastnet collide. Over roughly 120 km, the Mizen peninsula strings together sandy coves and wind-bitten headlands: Clonakilty’s Georgian facades, Skibbereen’s Famine legacy (the Heritage Centre is worth a focused stop), then Barleycove, a beach shaped by the 1755 Lisbon earthquake’s tsunami.
