Hard, silvery light bounces off the ridgelines while a resin scent drifts up from the black pines around Hoya de la Mora. At 3,398 m, Mulhacén dominates; to the west, the A-395 winds toward Veleta, with a 45–60 minute climb from Granada depending on snow. In winter, Pradollano runs lifts up to roughly 3,300 m and, when open, spreads about 110 km of groomed slopes; in summer, the road often reaches around 3,100 m, a launchpad for signed trails to high summits and the glacial tarns of the Barranco de San Juan.
Morning pick-up at your Granada hotel, then the car stays with you all day: gear stowed warm and dry, chilled water on hand, heated seats if the air bites. Depart early or linger—your call. While your driver handles the A-395, you can drop into El Dornajo Visitor Center. In Pradollano, seamless drop-off by the Borreguiles gondolas; on the way back, a short detour to Güéjar Sierra for habas con jamón before rolling into town, with parking, chains, and timing quietly taken care of.
