Climbing out of the Sarine valley, Route 11 winds 26 km from Gstaad to Les Diablerets over the Col du Pillon at 1,546 m in about 35 minutes. That strip of tarmac unlocks a scattered ski playground: sunny aspects on Eggli and Wispile, long traverses via Saanerslochgrat and Rinderberg toward Zweisimmen, and the altitude insurance of Glacier 3000, often rideable from November to May. It’s possible to link Schönried to St. Stephan without unclipping, or head for the Quille du Diable bowl when lower slopes firm up.
In town, your driver keeps the Mercedes van close, ski rack fitted, so you hop sectors without waiting on shuttles. Hotel pickup, gear handled, and a flexible plan: early laps on Eggli for first light, the Zweisimmen connection before lunch, then up to Col du Pillon for a final Glacier 3000 descent if winds ease. Between lifts, pause for rösti at Wasserngrat or an espresso at the Olden, while parking, pre-booked passes, and last-lift timings are quietly taken care of.
