Construction at Neuschwanstein began in 1869, a medieval fantasy perched 965 meters above the Pöllat gorge. Some 40 km east, Linderhof condenses King Ludwig II’s Wagner-inspired dreams, complete with an artificial Venus Grotto. Between them lies Oberammergau, its Lüftlmalerei frescoes and the Passion Play staged every decade since 1634. Short drives, sharp contrasts: marble and carved wood, then wide views of the Ammergau Alps. Even repeat visitors to Munich discover how these three stops map a monarch’s obsessions onto the landscape.
We collect you from your hotel in a late‑model Mercedes and head to Hohenschwangau in roughly 1 h 50. With a Munich-based private driver, you focus on timed-entry visits while we handle parking, shuttle logistics, and tickets, then continue to Linderhof for a 25‑minute palace tour. Lunch is open in Oberammergau, with time to browse woodcarving workshops, and the return can flex for a quick photo stop by Lake Forggensee if the light turns good.

Your chauffeur’s tip
From May to October, aim for a 10:30 Neuschwanstein slot: side light brings out the north façade’s reliefs, and Marienbrücke access is usually calmer before noon.
