Head southeast from Nuremberg along the A3, then the B8 for 110 km, and you reach Regensburg on the Danube’s last great free meander, where St. Peter’s Cathedral (13th–16th c.) rises near the 12th‑century Stone Bridge. Once the Roman Castra Regina and later a Free Imperial City, it still shows patrician tower-houses, the AD 179 Porta Praetoria, and centuries-old breweries. Optional detour: 10 km downstream at Donaustauf, King Ludwig I’s Walhalla crowns the river from a neoclassical terrace reached by 358 steps.
All day, your driver is at your disposal: hotel pickup in Nuremberg, smooth Mercedes transfers, and short hops between quarters while you tour or taste. In Regensburg, your private chauffeur handles parking so you can cross the Stone Bridge, sample a bratwurst at Historische Wurstkuchl, then reach the cathedral in time for a Domspatzen motet. If skies are clear, add the Walhalla stop before an unhurried return, perhaps pausing at Kelheim’s Befreiungshalle or the Naab–Danube confluence.
