Covering 128 km² with three small islands and long belts of reeds, Lake Trasimeno has long marked the gentle seam between Umbria and Tuscany. History lingers here: in 217 BC Hannibal ambushed Roman legions near Tuoro, and from the walls of Castiglione del Lago you still read the wind across the basin. From Perugia it’s a 30–40 minute run along the SS75 bis to San Feliciano, a fishing village where eel and carp “porchetta-style” tell a quieter, lake-born Italy.
