Loup gorges and Tourrettes

Back in 1892, engineer C.-A. Roure logged the Loup River’s flow beneath today’s “Saut du Loup” walkways for an abandoned hydroelectric study; those catwalks still trace his measuring points. From Saint-Paul-de-Vence, the D3 road slips into the cool gorge in about 25–30 minutes, then climbs tight switchbacks to Gourdon at 760 m, whose terraces can line up the Var estuary and the Lérins Islands on a clear day. Farther on, Tourrettes-sur-Loup has crafted candied and distilled Victoria violets since the 15th century.
