At 9:30 a.m., the light skims the blue ironwork of Maricel while a bell rings over the water; shade along the Passeig de la Ribera sharpens every tile detail. Sitges didn’t just collect façades: returning Caribbean fortunes around 1880 bankrolled showpiece homes, and late Catalan Modernisme drew in artists. At Cau Ferrat, Santiago Rusiñol stacked wrought iron, canvases and glass, and welcomed Casas and Utrillo; steps away, Palau de Maricel (1910–1918) layered sea-view arcades with neo-medieval salons. Between them, the “indianos” houses speak—balcony by balcony—of sugar money.

In Sitges with a private chauffeur, stops link up without hunting for parking: five minutes between Cau Ferrat and Maricel, then 1.5 km to the Terramar gardens laid out in 1919 by Miquel Utrillo beside the old autodrome; grab an horchata on Cap de la Vila, and, if the swell is up, detour to La Punta to watch stone and sea in conversation.
