Two hundred and ten kilometers from Lyon via the A43 and D902, the road climbs past the Lac du Chevril to Val Claret, where the Perce-Neige funicular launches you to 3,030 m on the Grande Motte glacier. From June to early August, groomers leave firm cords at dawn; you’ll carve the 3500 piste, the upper Double M and the Vanoise chair’s plateau while the Solaise ridge turns pink across the valley. Crowds thin after 8:30 a.m., sun hits strong by 10—conditions shift fast, but the panorama to La Sassière pays you back.
Pick-up from your hotel in Tignes-le-Lac or Val Claret around 5:45 a.m., climate-controlled Mercedes with ski racks fitted, and swift drop-off at the funicular before the doors open; your dedicated driver handles waiting and the noon rendezvous. The flow stays easy: a quick espresso at the Val Claret coffee shop while parking is sorted, then on to the lakeside 18-hole golf course (2 km) or the Vanoise National Park trails starting by Maison de Tignes Le Lac. The vehicle remains on standby for a cheese stop at Ferme des Trois Capucines or a detour to the Tignes dam overlook at 1,790 m.

To dodge slush, catch the first funicular before 7 a.m. and stick to slopes above 3,200 m; pre-book glacier lift passes online the day before to save roughly 15 minutes in Val Claret.
