Golden glints ripple along hulls by Quai Napoléon as a whiff of everlasting flower drifts in from the maquis; evening settles over Ajaccio’s gulf. Across from the 16th‑century Genoese citadel, the small fishing boats slide in with their paranza catch. Crates of chestnuts sit beside ewe’s milk tomme, and strings of figatellu cure in the shade. Place Foch hums with talk, while the Parata tower, 12 km away, cuts a dark outline at sea. It’s the right backdrop for a glass of sciaccarellu and charcuterie raised inland in the Taravo.
