Follow the Prahova Valley on DN1, crest the Carpathians past Ploiești and royal Sinaia, then after 171 km Bucharest gives way to Brașov, cupped between Mount Tâmpa (960 m) and Postăvarul. The Black Church—so named after the 1689 fire—anchors a townscape of Council Square, the 1.3‑meter‑wide Rope Street, and guild bastions refitted for cannon in the 1500s. This is a Saxon mercantile city shaped by Hanseatic trade and Honterus’s press, not just pretty façades.
From there, choose Bran or Râșnov while your driver handles the roads and you sample a warm kürtőskalács or slip into a quiet museum. Hotel pickup, a Mercedes at your disposal all day, and flexible stops: Râșnov’s walls, viewpoints over Piatra Craiului, even a dairy in Râșnovel. With our private chauffeur in Transylvania, distances work in your favor (12 km Brașov–Râșnov, 30 km to Bran) and entry times are finessed to dodge coaches, with room for a detour to Poiana Brașov if the light turns golden.

Your chauffeur’s tip
Aim for the Black Church at opening time (10:00 on weekdays, variable in winter) to catch Buchholz organ rehearsals and beat the 11:00–12:00 coach influx.
