Rising 480 meters above the sea, La Turbie’s Trophy of Augustus still commands the Roman ridge, a reminder of a 6 BC victory and of the Via Julia snaking across these heights. From here the upper corniche glides east, skimming Monaco with sightlines to Tête de Chien, Èze village clinging to its spur, and—farther—Roquebrune-Cap-Martin crowned by its Carolingian keep. Viewpoints appear every couple of kilometers: Col d’Èze, La Forna crest, the old Vista Palace turn-off. Roman history meets limestone geology at each pull-off.
Hotel pick-up in Èze Village sets the tone, then a Mercedes at your disposal and a dedicated driver adjust the pace: 15 minutes for a shot, 30 for a visit, longer if the light turns golden. Parking by the monument makes La Turbie easy; the rest of the upper corniche unfolds without pressure while you sip a coffee on Place Detras or wander Rue Comte de Cessole.
