Jungfraujoch via the Eiger Express

Early light, a smooth swing out of Grund and the Eiger’s North Face fills the window as the Eiger Express glides uphill. Fifteen minutes later you’re at Eigergletscher, thinner air, crisp snow underfoot. The Jungfrau Railway—pushed through the massif in 1912—climbs to 3,454 m. Up top, you wander the Ice Palace’s tunnels, step onto the Sphinx Terrace with the Mönch across the saddle, and trace the 23 km sweep of the Aletsch Glacier as it drains toward the valley.

The day is kept simple and flexible. Your driver meets you at your Grindelwald or Interlaken hotel, a comfortable Mercedes, and drops you at Grindelwald Terminal in about 10–20 minutes depending on address. While you explore and perhaps stop for rösti at Kleine Scheidegg on the way back, they handle waiting and parking, then adapt the route: a detour to Pfingstegg viewpoint or a quick photo stop in Burglauenen if the light turns golden.
