Back in 1999, the open-cast mine known as Zwenkau II began flooding to form today’s Cospudener See, the pilot lake in the Neuseenland restoration project. Two decades on, it’s a swift 20‑minute hop from Leipzig’s center to sandy beaches at Cospuden or the engineered shores of Markkleeberger See, where dikes and gradients still trace the pit’s geometry. Back in town, a different kind of revival: the Baumwollspinnerei, a cotton mill founded in 1884, re-emerged after 2005 as a studio complex where Neo Rauch, Tilo Baumgärtel, and Rosa Loy helped crystallize the New Leipzig School.
Your driver collects you at the hotel in a Mercedes and handles timing while you enjoy the sights. With our private chauffeur in Leipzig, head 9 km to Cospudener See for the Bistumshöhe lookout and Zöbigker marina, continue 6 km to Markkleeberger See and its Störmthal canal, then drive 7 km to the Spinnerei for gallery visits; we can pre-arrange access to selected halls, and the driver waits for coffee breaks or extra photo stops.
