Leave Leipzig’s hum and steel behind for the soft bends of the Ilm; the shift is palpable as you roll off the A38. Weimar lies 120 km to the southwest: two writers’ homes facing each other across town (Goethe on Frauenplan, Schiller on Schillerstraße 12), a rococo library reborn after the 2004 fire, and the Bauhaus, launched here in 1919 by Walter Gropius. In ten minutes on foot you move from the Duchess Anna Amalia’s shelves to the spare lines of the art school, along streets where Liszt taught at the Fürstenhaus from 1848.
Your private chauffeur in Leipzig collects you at the hotel and takes the B87 while you settle into a Mercedes, coffee in hand, as he handles the driving. On arrival, he drops you at Goethe’s House, waits during the visit, then heads to the Bauhaus Museum on Hornstraße for your timed entry. Lunch on the Marktplatz—book just before noon—and an afternoon loop through the Park an der Ilm and the Anna Amalia Library, before an unhurried return with an optional detour to Schloss Belvedere, 6 km away.

The Anna Amalia Library uses tight time slots: book the Rococo Hall a week ahead and aim for 1:30 pm, typically quieter between the morning and mid-afternoon group waves.
