Bock casemates and the upper town

Stone above, stone below: atop the cliffs, upper-town bastions command the Alzette; inside the rock, 17 km of galleries first cut in 1644 chart Habsburg and Prussian enlargements, siege shelters, and later collapses that reshaped the ridge. From the Bock promontory, continue along the Corniche to the Grund ascent, sighting Neumünster Abbey and the Castle Bridge just 300 m away, then swing by the Grand Ducal Palace and Notre-Dame Cathedral—about an eight-minute walk apart.

In Luxembourg City with a dedicated driver, move from the Casemates tour (45–60 minutes) to Corniche viewpoints, then glide to the Grund without the uphill slog via the Pfaffenthal lift; the car waits, you shoot your photos, and we reconvene for Place Guillaume II, the palace exterior, and—time permitting—a coffee on Place d’Armes before an unhurried ride back.
