In 1784, architect José Martín de Aldehuela completed Ronda’s Puente Nuevo, a stone span rising roughly 98 meters over the Tajo gorge after an earlier attempt collapsed in 1741. That bridge reoriented trade and travel across the Serranía, where whitewashed villages dot olive groves and small vineyards. From Málaga, the A-357 and A-367 climb 105 km toward Ronda; detouring via the MA-7401 brings you to Setenil de las Bodegas, whose houses truly tuck beneath the Río Trejo’s rock overhangs. Expect limestone terrain, scrubland scents, and summits topping 700 meters.
Collected at your Málaga hotel, you ride while your driver handles the road—and you taste, stroll, and look up. A Mercedes remains at your disposal to flex timing between Ardales, Setenil (about 1 hour), Ronda (around 3 hours), and, time permitting, a Serranía winery 15–20 minutes from town. With a dedicated private driver in Málaga, luggage stays safe, schedules shift after lunch, and while parking and access are handled, you head straight for the 1785 bullring, cliff-edge miradors, and a local bodega, then return via the scenic A-369 if the light is right.
