Grazalema and the white villages route

Between bare limestone ridges and rain-fed valleys, the contrast is striking: after parched Andalusian plains, Grazalema soaks up over 2,000 mm of annual rainfall as Atlantic winds stall against the Sierra del Pinar. Relict Spanish firs (pinsapo) cloak the slopes around Puerto de las Palomas at 1,357 m. In whitewashed lanes you still find looms weaving the famed Manta de Grazalema, a craft recorded since the 18th century, before drifting toward Zahara de la Sierra and its turquoise reservoir, then Benaocaz and, finally, leather-minded Ubrique.

The day runs smoothly and on your terms: your dedicated driver in Ronda collects you at the hotel in a Mercedes and handles the hairpins while you explore, taste, and shoot the views. Figure on 30 km Ronda–Grazalema via A-372 (about 40 min), 14 km to Zahara (25 min), then 20 km to Ubrique via Benaocaz (35 min). Expect flexible pauses for coffee on Plaza de España, a short stroll to Mirador del Santo, a peek inside a weaving workshop, and in Ubrique either a luxury brand showroom visit or the Museo de la Piel housed in the former Capuchin convent.
