It’s a 100 km drive from Málaga via the A-357 and A-367, climbing limestone sierras to Ronda’s high plateau at 723 m. Then the land breaks open: El Tajo, a 98 m chasm dividing the old town from the 19th‑century expansion. People come for the clean line of the Puente Nuevo (1793), but stay for the angles below it: the cliffside path to the miradores, the Real Maestranza (1785) with timber seating, the 13th‑century Arab Baths with their triple vaulted rooms, and Mondragón Palace with Mudéjar patios. Between viewpoints, you read the layers of a frontier town.
