Swap the bustle of Las Fallas and Malvarrosa’s city beach for whispering reeds and open water: La Albufera, a coastal lagoon formed by medieval silting, lies 20 km south of Valencia. Glide past paddies near Sueca and Sollana, egrets tiptoeing in irrigation channels, fisherman huts, and flat-bottomed albuferenc boats. Paella here is provenance on a plate: bomba rice grows next door, and eel still anchors the peppery all i pebre in El Palmar’s taverns.
Collected from your hotel, you ride in a late‑model Mercedes with your dedicated driver, the car at your disposal for roughly 4–5 hours. While they handle routes and parking, you step onto a traditional boat, pause at Mirador del Pujol, then sit to lunch waterside at Bon Aire or Casa Salvador. Timing stays flexible, with photo stops in the fields if the light turns golden, and an easy return via the City of Arts and Sciences. Sunset on the lagoon is available in season.

For golden reflections on the paddies, aim for late May–June (tillering) or late September after harvest; pre-order your paella and request a canal-side table to catch the breeze.
