Roughly 166 km from Bergen via the E16, the road threads past Voss’s lakes, slips through Nærøydalen and, if you wish, the 24.5 km Lærdal Tunnel opened in 2000, before descending to Flåm at the head of the Aurlandsfjord. Sheer valley walls, fan-shaped falls like Tvindefossen, and the narrow arms of the Sognefjord explain the UNESCO listing of the Nærøyfjord. One for map lovers: the Aurlandsfjellet scenic road, closed in winter, climbs above 1,300 m to the Stegastein viewpoint at 650 m, ideal to read wind and tide lines on the fjord.
From there, the day flexes to your pace: hotel pickup in Bergen, a Mercedes at your disposal, an early start to beat boarding queues, then a Nærøyfjord cruise or the Flåm Railway to Myrdal while your driver repositions between access points and waits at the pier. Cheese tasting in Undredal, a photo stop in Gudvangen, a stroll in Flåm—simple switches. In Bergen, your private chauffeur adapts to weather and boat timetables and reshuffles stops if cloud sits on Stegastein.
