At 1,380 meters, the Hardangervidda plateau feeds the Måbødalen gorge and the 182 m drop of Vøringsfossen, a waterfall first famed by Romantic-era travelers in the 1880s. Opened in 2013, the Hardanger Bridge spans 1,380 m, linking Ulvik and Ullensvang above a fjord known for orchards since the 18th century. In May the apple trees bloom; by September, Ulvik’s presses run with Aroma and Gravenstein apples. Driving from Bergen to Eidfjord via E16/E13 takes about 2 h 45, through spiral tunnels, white farmsteads, and still shores.
Your Bergen-based chauffeur provides a Mercedes on standby all day, with hotel pick-up, an early start, and a flexible pace. You cross Hardangerbrua, frame the view from Øvre Eidfjord and the Fossli viewpoints, then slip into an Ulvik cider farm while the driver handles parking and timing. He drives while you taste and explore—orchard, cellar, and the Vøringsfossen footbridges. If clouds roll in, he reorders stops or adds the Norwegian Nature Centre (45 minutes) before looping back via Granvin and the Sørfjord.

Your chauffeur’s tip
To dodge crowds on the Vøringsfossen footbridges, time your visit for 11:30 or after 16:30; during blossom season (mid‑May), allow 30 minutes in Lofthus for orchard shots from the Opedal hillside.
