At 73 meters, Biarritz’s lighthouse has swept the bay since 1834, a nightly metronome for surfers and night walkers alike. Follow that beam along the Grande Plage to the Hôtel du Palais, born from Empress Eugénie’s 1855 seaside residence. The city after dark is about precision: a table at L’Impertinent (one Michelin star), the Atlantic throwing silver on the reefs, then the slim profile of the Virgin’s Rock footbridge, about three quarters of a mile from the Palais, glowing above the surge.
From 7 pm, your driver collects you at the hotel and keeps the Mercedes on standby all evening—door-to-door, short hops, no clock watching. In Biarritz with a private chauffeur, you taste and take it in while he slips along Avenue de l’Impératrice to L’Impertinent (about 7 minutes), loops by Côte des Basques if winds ease, then eases up to the lighthouse for photos. A final stop at the Virgin’s Rock and a nightcap at the Palais bar, with the car waiting quietly whenever you are ready to move.

Your chauffeur’s tip
Book L’Impertinent 2–3 weeks ahead, and time the lighthouse stop for about 30 minutes after sunset: the beam is active and the swell still reads clearly from the terrace.
