Beaufort and Larochette castles

Follow the N11 then the N10 for 15 km out of Echternach and the road climbs gently along the sandstone ridges of the Mullerthal, where Luxembourg Sandstone carves narrow gorges and stacked boulders. In Beaufort, two profiles stand side by side: the ruined medieval stronghold (12th–16th c.) and the 1649 Renaissance manor, known for blackcurrant liqueur distilled on site since 1840. Farther west, Larochette keeps watch over the Ernz Blanche from a schist spur. Between Medernach and Consdorf the terrain rolls, and late light picks out mossy ledges and banded rock.
