Trier via the Sûre valley

Mist still hangs over Echternach as the Mercedes traces the Sûre, past orchard rows and the low river markers that double as a border. Forty-five minutes later, the Porta Nigra looms—black basalt and Roman scale—then the twin towers of the Cathedral of St. Peter and St. Paul.
