The glacier at 3,600 metres and summer skiing

By 8:15 a.m., the air bites a little on the main square as the Jandri gondola hums to life. Seventeen minutes up and you’re over the Vallon de la Mura, bound for the glacier at roughly 3,570–3,600 m where race teams often train in June and July. Early hours bring crisp snow on Dome and Signal; when lifts wind down around 12:30, the 3200 terrace becomes a lookout, with panels pointing to La Muzelle and the Barre des Écrins. Outside the summer ski window, the ice cave at 3,200 m is worth the ride for its sculpted galleries and that quiet blue light.

From there, it stays effortless. Collected from your hotel or chalet, you settle into a Mercedes for a half-day at your disposal; your dedicated driver in Les Deux Alpes handles drop-off at the Jandri, waits, and meets you at the agreed time. You ski, you visit, you linger over a coffee while they track the weather, tweak pick-up if needed, and keep your gear safe. It’s about 2.5 km from the resort center to the Jandri base, and if lines build up, they’ll shift timings so you catch an early, quieter cabin.
