In 1805, the Vénéon torrent swept away several footbridges, cutting off Venosc until a new crossing—known locally as the Pont de la Sée—was completed in 1829. Set at 920 m, the old lanes still ring underfoot, and the Romanesque belltower of Saint-Benoît keeps its quiet watch. Just above, Les Deux Alpes sits 6 km by the D220 or an 8‑minute gondola ride away (running since 1972): two worlds layered vertically. Year-round artisans throw clay, weave silk and wool, and in late June the alpine bells return when the pastures open.
Collected at your Les Deux Alpes hotel, you settle into a Mercedes while your driver winds down the switchbacks and then waits as long as you like. Prefer the gondola? We sync the car to your timing so pick-up is effortless. Taste a local Vénéon blue cheese, step into the silk weaver’s workshop on Place du Borne, and stroll to the 1934 bridge over the Vénéon—meanwhile your dedicated chauffeur handles timing and keeps any purchases safe in the vehicle.

Your chauffeur’s tip
Aim for late morning outside the winter holidays: most workshops open around 10:00, and by 11:30 the gondola line thins for a smooth ride back.
