Leaving Tarragona, the N-240 threads 50 km inland through the rolling Conca de Barberà, where Trepat vines and open oak woods sit at 350–600 m. Poblet Abbey, founded in 1151 and a UNESCO site since 1991, shelters the pantheon of the Crown of Aragon and a model Cistercian cloister. Think pale sandstone, spring-fed gardens, and working monastic spaces alongside village wineries. Depending on service times, you can pair Poblet with Santes Creus or the women’s house of Vallbona de les Monges, each marking a distinct step in Catalan Gothic.
We collect you from your Tarragona hotel, keep a Mercedes at your disposal, and adjust the pace as you go; you explore while your private driver handles routes, parking, and any bookings. Spend the morning at Poblet, then continue to Santes Creus via the TV-2441 through Aiguamúrcia, or to Vallbona via Montblanc and the C-14, pausing at a DO Conca de Barberà cellar to sample a chilled Trepat. With 25–45 minutes between sites, there’s ample time for the sung office and a close look at the vaulted refectory.
