From Zermatt it’s a 33‑minute climb to 3,089 m, where the east face of Monte Rosa aligns with Dent d’Hérens and 29 other 4,000‑meter peaks. Look closely and you’ll still spot segments of the earlier summer alignment, shifted after repeated snow slides in the 1930s; in winter, heated rails keep the timetable steady.
